Conekt's Rob Pinnock to present at Power Management Technologies conference

Rob Pinnock, principal engineer in Conekt's Sensors and Optoelectronics Group, will give a presentation at the Power Management Technologies conference at the NPL, Teddington, on 27th May. Power management is an active research topic aiming to control power consumption in electronic systems with limited energy reserves, such as devices which need to operate for long periods without recharging or replacing batteries.

The event, organised by the Sensors & Instrumentation Knowledge Transfer Network (SIKTN), will disseminate the results of a SIKTN study looking at Power Management technologies for efficient deployment of wireless sensor networks.  It will also bring together leading industry experts in the field for networking and to discuss future directions of UK research in this area.  Rob's presentation will give a system developer's perspective, describing a number of Conekt's projects where power management has been critical to success.

"This will be a very interesting event" explained Rob. "The challenges of efficient power management are critical to the success of many wireless monitoring systems, such as tyre pressure monitoring in cars or sensor networks determining the structural integrity of aircraft components. It will be a great opportunity to present Conekt's capabilities in this area and to learn from what other companies and universities are doing."
