Conekt presenting at UKACC International Conference on Control, September 2010

Dr Xiao-Dong Sun will be presenting a paper entitled ‘Application of robust two degree-of-freedom control to an Active Steering Wheel System (ASWS)’ at the International Conference on Control, at Coventry University September 7, 2010.

The paper co-authored by Xiao-Dong Sun, Paul Furmston and Xiaoming Shen discusses the results of the study into the robust ASWS control system development. Following examination of the stability and control performance within Matlab and extensive bench and driver-in-loop functional and validation tests, the results demonstrated the desirable control performance by the advanced robust control techniques.

Conekt’s expertise in vehicle steering technology has enabled the development of a very high fidelity, yet powerful steering actuator aimed at providing impressive realism in high-end driving simulators.  Advanced techniques were employed during the development of this steering actuator, resulting in exceptional levels of steering control.  The paper describes some of the methods used whilst optimising the ASWS actuator.

Xiao-Dong Sun, technology lead for advanced control, commented ‘The conference brings together like minded engineers and scientists from industry and academia with a wealth of knowledge in the area of Control and its applications.  This is the perfect forum to discuss the work undertaken by Conekt and our breath of expertise in the field.’

The three day international conference organised by the Control Theory and applications Centre (CTAC) attracts visitors with a range of backgrounds.  The combination of tutorials, workshops and interactive sessions provide an ideal environment for the transfer of knowledge.
