Shortlisted for Engineer Technology and Innovation Awards 2010

Zero Emissions Fuel Cell Hybrid Taxi has been shortlisted for the Engineer Technology and Innovation Awards 2010.  Beating off the competition to reach the finals, the collaborative project has been shortlisted within the Energy category of the award.


The Technology Strategy Board Low Carbon Vehicle Innovation Programme funded project brought together the expertise of TRW Conekt, Intelligent Energy, Lotus Engineering and London Taxis International.  The collaboration resulted in the development of the LTI TX4 which is powered by Intelligent Energy’s hydrogen fuel cell allowing speeds in excess of 80mph and a range of over 250 miles from a full tank of hydrogen. 

The Engineer Technology and Innovation Awards celebrate the industries most successful innovations over the past year.  Judged by a panel of industry members including the Technology Strategy Board, National Instruments and the Institute of Digital Healthcare and IEEE, the entries were evaluated against key criteria to reach the final shortlist.


Alongside the Zero Emissions Fuel Cell Hybrid Taxi project in the Energy category are project AIRPOWER and Nexeon hoping to win this prestigious award.  A range of businesses and academic intuitions are shortlisted in other categories including Aerospace, Environment and Technology, Consumer Products and Sports Technology. 


The winners of the Energy category will be announced on 3 December 2010 at the Royal Society in London.
